The Leonard Cohen estate is objecting to President Trump‘s planned use of the song “Hallelujah” ahead of tonight’s Freedom 250 rally on the National Mall here in Washington.
@newsguyusa IANAL, but I wonder: Rather than an artist or estate saying that they don’t approve the use of a song (which will just get ignored), would they be better off to grant permission, for a licensing fee of $2.5 million per performance? Then, if the song is used, sue for the fee?
@Twotired @newsguyusa I have not been keeping up with everything going on (it's a lot) but isn't the president now immune to civil lawsuits?
