🎵 New single released today by PJ Harvey, 'Voyager': https://pjharvey.bandcamp.com/album/voyager

Gorgeous message and, I reckon, in the same thematic universe as @RobertaFidora's BLACK ARROW – https://robertafidora.bandcamp.com/album/black-arrow-2 – and ETHER/ORBIT – https://robertafidora.bandcamp.com/album/ether-orbit

@miblo Funnily enough, I saw this earlier and have queued it up on my “things to check out” playlist! 🌝
@RobertaFidora Aaah, nice one!
@miblo Got a long list of Operating Theatre songs to get through first though. 🙃
@RobertaFidora Oh gosh, I hope you're doing okay. 👩‍⚕️

I bought this on 12" when it came out.
"Queen Of No Heart" is on the B side, another banger with some Very Eighties drums.
@dec23k @miblo Excellent. It is very 80s, but also extremely weird in a way I wasn't expecting. I read as well that they were briefly on U2's imprint, or is the internet lying to me again?

@RobertaFidora @miblo
Sorry, I meant to say earlier it was on Mother Records. 12MUM4

@dec23k @RobertaFidora Wow, what, 1986?! I've been listening to it under the impression of it being current, with maybe something of a throwback aesthetic. Puts a whole new complexion on it being rooted in the bona fide 80s.

@miblo @dec23k Ooh, quite a lot of Longpigs on there too. Haven’t seen them mentioned anywhere in a while! Must dig out my CD from the cupboard of chaos…

I know, right? Why wasn’t this song absolutely massive in the 80s?!

@RobertaFidora @dec23k Honestly, I'm utterly nonplussed right now!

@dec23k @RobertaFidora @miblo I did the same double take when I was having a quick nosey listen yesterday - thought it sounded like a very convincing 80s pastiche until I read the blurb and realised I was being very stupid.

Then I went and listened to Single Gun Theory instead.

@MaxCorp @dec23k @RobertaFidora Hehe, yep, I guess skipping the blurb – a rarity for me – was my downfall. Pretty sure I just spotted the "1979" in there, along with the (not backdated) release date of 2023, and assumed the '79 date to be someone's birth year or something!

Nice one on the Single Gun Theory rec. Looking forward to checking them out and… well, glad to confirm that even I managed to swerve misreading their name.
