Influenza and a few other viruses (but not SARS-CoV-2) also increase the risk of those of us with the predisposing gene variants developing celiac: https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/29076383/ .
Which is nowhere near diabetes in terms of management, but which still restricts people from military service.
But that Pete Hegseth does not care about the welfare of the people he is supposed to be in charge of is not news.
