I’m pretty sure that some flavors of #GenAI will find wholesome uses in the post-bubble future, but for the moment I feel a wave of revulsion every time I encounter AI cheerleading because it never NEVER acknowledges the force-field of greed and fear under the overhang of the multi-trillion-dollar bet being made by people I loathe who are oblivious to the oncoming financial and social wreckage they are facilitating.
A comparison I’ve found helpful and have been using more lately: it’s like the difference between trucks and Cybertrucks. I have concerns about both, but they’re very different sorts of concerns. If I say “Never buy a Cybertruck!” and someone replies “trucks have many good use cases, actually, like delivering produce to grocery stores and moving pianos,” then we are not having the same conversation.
