I am so thrilled that Pebble watches are a thing again. I ordered both the Core 2 Duo and the Pebble Time 2, mainly because the PT2 shipping time was much later and I wanted a new Pebble quickly. The Pebble Time 2 is a huge upgrade in terms of build quality, functionality, and screen resolution.

But i find myself still wearing the Core 2 Duo because monochrome e-ink displays just have such a better contrast ratio. The Core 2 Duo is significantly easier and more comfortable to read, especially with the backlight off. I wouldn't have believed it without having both watches, but if they made a monochrome Pebble Time 2 i think that would be the best Pebble of all.

@ojensen I'm glad I'm not the only one with this opinion! I bought both as well, and have been gravitating back towards the Pebble 2 Duo lately. The Time 2 is great outside, but with indoor lighting it's just not as readable.
@FlatFootFox 100% agreed. I sent an email to support just letting them know I'd be thrilled to buy a monochrome PT2. I know that's got close to 0% chance of being successful, but i figured i couldn't be the only person with that opinion. Glad to have my assumption confirmed here 😅

@ojensen @FlatFootFox

I completely agree (and will send an email, too) - There's an extra reason I like the 2 Duo, which is that it seems to be much lighter. I am not sure about how much that is maybe battery, but my guess is that the metal housing adds weight as well.

That said, I do like the extra screen real estate. And the HR sensor of course.

@halfbyte Yeah, the PT2 is almost twice as heavy: 18.4g vs 33g (without the straps). I suspect it's also materials, since the C2D is plastic with a rubber membrane, whereas the PT2 has a lot of metal and actual buttons. Personally I don't mind the weight and would gladly trade it for the build quality of the PT2, if only the contrast was better.
@ojensen Why do they display different times though
@wolfram_roesler It is possible to own too much: a man with one watch always knows what time it is, but a man with two is never sure.
