I've had someone pretty pushy about my post regarding the city of Halifax in #Mikmaq, insisting I apologize kind of the usual heated attitude that comes from folks using the AI summary to back their 'rightness.' While I am willing to issue corrections, when I am wrong... 1/2

Jipugtug is just an alternative, phonetic way to spell Kjipuktuk, the Mi'kmaq name for Halifax. Both spellings mean the same thing & refer to the same place.
I found this out in less than a 5 minute search. So no I'm not giving incorrect information. I have & will apologize when wrong. 2/2

@amymyoung FWIW Phonetic spellings are super helpful for people who need to say unfamiliar place names out loud. It’s possible to search out audio files, but the sources aren’t always dependable. I love that there’s a map of NS with Mi’kmaq place names as well as the audio.
