He has gotten suckered and publicly humiliated by both the Iranians AND Trump (his own side) who have zero respect and total public contempt for him.
A negotiating basic: The other side must believe whatever you utter has the complete 100% support of your side/bosses, if you don't, you are USELESS to them, and an insult, as you have no power to actually deal and are "bargaining in bad faith."
I did this for a career. Vance is a global joke.
