🎵 New single released today by PJ Harvey, 'Voyager': https://pjharvey.bandcamp.com/album/voyager

Gorgeous message and, I reckon, in the same thematic universe as @RobertaFidora's BLACK ARROW – https://robertafidora.bandcamp.com/album/black-arrow-2 – and ETHER/ORBIT – https://robertafidora.bandcamp.com/album/ether-orbit

@miblo Funnily enough, I saw this earlier and have queued it up on my “things to check out” playlist! 🌝
@RobertaFidora Aaah, nice one!
@miblo Got a long list of Operating Theatre songs to get through first though. 🙃
@RobertaFidora Oh gosh, I hope you're doing okay. 👩‍⚕️

Operating Theatre

@RobertaFidora Ohhh sheesh! No, it's okay, I'm sorry.

My instinct was to make some joke about Nurse With Wound's "Chance Meeting on a Dissecting Table…" or, a bit more tangentially, The Mars Volta's "De-Loused in the Comatorium" (release anniversary of this one today), but then I was like, "hold on just a minute!"

Glad you're fine, and looking forward to checking out this Operating Theatre! 💉

@miblo Bloody bands with their confusing names! That Bandcamp link will reveal a straight up sonic jewel though - I found it in the comments of a film trailer.

Gah, I haven't listened to The Mars Volta in ages! Perhaps I should sort that out soon...

@RobertaFidora Haha, ikr! Alright, sweet! Which film? I love discovering music this way. (Incidentally, Heart's 'Barracuda' was the banging closing credits song for an episode of The Boroughs I watched t'other day. Super coincidental as I'd been listening to Heart just the day before.)

Oh yeah, bit of a thrill for me to see "De-Loused…" show up in my daily search. Full on shot of nostalgia. Pretty sure I'm still remembering right 'Drunkship of Lanterns' and 'This Apparatus Must Be Unearthed' as the two tracks a college friend with, let's say, expansive musical tastes recommended I check out first.

@miblo The film trailer was "We Are Pat" and I'd never actually heard of the character before. I just clicked on it because I saw a bunch of people in wigs and thought "this is my kind of scene". 😂

When I say "haven't listened in ages", it could well be as long ago as college, although my first introduction to them was a much cooler friend buying the CD for my birthday. I didn't immediately get into it though because I was a diehard NIN fan.

*Ignores Trent to go listen to "Barracuda" now*

@RobertaFidora Oooh cool! Yeah, Pat's a new one to me too. Hope the film… comes soon to a screen near me.

A much cooler friend? Impossible!  Aww, right! Yeah, I had a bit of a mixed reaction to it too. Those electronic ambient sections sadly didn't quite jive with me at the time. Think I was restless for vocals and drums. Could really do with getting to know NIN, myself! Super coincidence, btw, the top image of them at https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nine_Inch_Nails is at the venue of my very first (rock) gig, Deftones in the summer of 2003.

Hope you enjoyed Barracuda. Headin' in to the Operating Theatre…
