France identifies Ebola virus in patient who went to Congo

A positive case of Ebola virus has been identified in France. The French Ministry of Health says the patient had returned from a humanitarian mission in Congo. The man was not identified and is in stable condition at a specialized facility. Officials reported Tuesday that confirmed cases in the Ebola outbreak in eastern Congo have reached 1,003, including 254 deaths. The outbreak is concentrated in the Ituri province. The French health ministry says all precautionary measures including isolation of the patient have been taken. An epidemiological investigation is underway to identify and monitor any contacts the person may have had.
