RT: @Martin_Abrams Brixton Market is more than a collection of shops. It's the beating heart of our community, a place where generations of local people have built businesses, created jobs, celebrated culture and made Brixton what it is today.
That's why we support the Buy Back Brixton campaign.
Brixton Village was built by people with vision, courage and determination. By migrants, entrepreneurs, traders and families who created opportunity where others saw neglect.
By people who invested in each other and built something greater than the sum of its parts. That spirit is still alive is here in every trader opening their shutters each morning.
It is here in every resident who cares about the future of this community. And it is here in every person who has come together to say that Brixton's future should not be decided by whoever can write the biggest cheque.
So I want to make a simple appeal.
If you are a resident, get involved.
If you are a trader, organise.
If you have influence, use it.
If you know people with resources, bring them to the table.
If you love Brixton, stand with this campaign.
Because generations before us built this place.
And generations after us deserve the chance to enjoy it too. Let us show London what community power looks like. Let us show that there is another way.
Let us show that the wealth created by communities can belong to communities.
Let us show that Brixton is not for sale to the highest bidder.
And let us make history by bringing Brixton Village and Market Row into community ownership for the first time.
