Today’s is day 6 of watercolour painting!  I made a bit of a dark one… I’ll share it with the silly bird painting I made last night. :)

Titled: Pain is a Prison 🖤

I think I’ll make more emo stuff as I learn, I’m just too safe with my painting right now to be able to do what I want to express yet!

Let me know what you think…

@britt nice color on that cactus!
@Rye hey thanks! I wanted the cactus to be much taller but I got distracted and forgot to blot the drips lol. So my cactus is short , shrugging his shoulders.

@britt

I think they look lovely! I like them both. The concept piece, "pain is a prison", really conveys that feeling and the red looks so thick (like blood) and almost frothy/ bubbly. Hour did you do that?

I love the bird too; so whymsical! Did you do a layer of glazes to get the blue and yellow to overlap on the face? I've painted with oil and acrylic and I've been trying to do watercolor but I'm really struggling to get it to do what I want it to.

@jennifer hey!! Thanks for much for reaching out to chat about my painting adventures. :)

Honestly, I’m so new, I’m still learning and feeling out the basic flow of the paint on different types of paper. I’ve had a ton not turn out but every day I have one that is decent enough to share. :)

I’ll do my best to explain what I was playing around with in each painting .

The first one: letting paint drip and controlling that flow. That was my primary objective. Just feel that out, let it dry, then add and mix paint to add layers dimension. I then went in with a pen and added some texture/bold lines.

Second one: I did the top of this painting first so that the colour would eventually fall down into the two ‘feet’ … so I just pushed a few colours of paint from left to right, top to bottom, wet on wet. I pre-mixed the colours because I work super slow, haha. That helped with the blend!

Hope that helps and best to you on your watercolour journey! You got this!

@britt The pain in prison one has great texture. You managed to make it look metallic and also like blood.
@stephaniepixie thank you!! I wanted it to look eerie but also structured, but not too dark. That’s a compliment coming from you, a talented artist. ❤️
