Thanks to some birthday funds, I’ve added a Nikkor 26mm f/2.8 to my kit. This gives me a very nice, reasonably small and lightweight travel kit. The 26mm as my primary wide-angle walk around lens, the 40mm f/2 for a “standard” field of view and a little more light, and the Tamron 28-75mm f/2.8 as a fast midrange zoom. Now I just need to get some traveling in….

@djwudi nice

i’ve been thinking a little about getting a proper standalone camera again but canon so torched their UI/UX last I checked I may be forced to look at Nikon again or [shudder] Sony [shakes it off] to get something I don’t actively dislike using xD

(first I have some other stuff to deal with tho)

@moira Back when I was choosing, I worked at a Kit’s Camera, so I had a lot of opportunities to play with and compare the brands.

For me, at that time, Nikon had the best physical feel, UI, and legacy lens support, and I’ve certainly never had cause to second guess that. The move to the Z mount has slightly changed that final piece of the puzzle, but even then, there are inexpensive adapters for F-mount lenses (and a slew of other mounts; the Z mount is the most “permissive” mount) as long as going more manual isn’t an issue.

Good luck choosing when the time is right!
