Dug this out of the crates for a thread just now, the crossfade between Mean Girls and Hackers via Halcyon + On + On.

It was the seed crystal of an idea I couldn't implement at the time, a Kevin Bacon Game for movie soundtracks: Can you get from one movie to another via seamless crossfade, and maybe turn the exercise into one (ridiculously long) movie?

Apparently there's now a soundtrack movie database, though, so maybe it's possible?

The real question I wanted to answer was: what is the longest movie you could make like this? I suspect but don't know that there are infinite loops here - any movies where that share two songs in opposite order would do it - but without repeats, how far could you stretch this out?

@mhoye Side quest: can you make the crossfade so the resulting scene makes sense?

I guess that is easier the longer the song is.

(I had that idea because Halcyon has such an endless intro)

@mhoye i have wondered exactly this! having a comprehensive index of what songs appear in what movies definitely makes it way more feasible
