However, Oracle being the owner of OpenJDK and being invested in GenAI I‘m a bit skeptical how long this will last.

@AliveDevil @cato Java was the first language I ever learned, after ActionScript. I have many fond memories. I also flashed my LEGO Mindstorms RCX 1.5 with lejos back then, which allowed me to run Java bytecode on my RCX, super cool! there was also a PersonalJava, a Java 1.3 VM for Windows CE with a slightly reduced standard library, which was fun to play with.
