Ubiquitous computing no longer only senses context and adapts services. As AI, XR, and wearable interfaces become embedded in everyday life, they shape what people notice and how situations are read. A navigation system can foreground some routes over others; an XR interface can reveal layers of a place we would not otherwise see.
These systems bring real gains in accessibility, mobility, and participation. They also risk fragmenting shared understanding and concentrating who sees what.

We introduce reality mediation as a lens for how ubiquitous systems sense, model, transform, personalize, share, and govern our experience of the world. Rather than a conventional paper session, the workshop is meant to build a shared agenda: to surface common concepts and design tensions, and to connect researchers tackling these problems under different names.

We invite 4 to 8 page papers in the UbiComp/ISWC 2026 template: original research, position papers, work in progress, empirical or methodological studies, and critical or speculative pieces.

Organizers: Takuro Yonezawa, Simon Mayer, Shunichi Kasahara, Jannis Strecker-Bischoff, Christopher Katins, Md Atiqur Rahman Ahad, Anthony Rowe, and Flora Salim.
