One of the main skills of a landscape photographer is being there at the right time.

That usually means checking multiple weather apps, trying not to miss fog, rain clearing, clouds, tides, moonrise, etc. It is tiring, and it is easy to forget or miss the window.

That's why I built PhotoSignal - a web app for photography weather alerts.

Basic account is free.

I’ve just launched it, so I’d appreciate any feedback.

@antongorlin Such a good idea for a service. One thing I started wondering was the weather data coverage. Is it primarily designed for Australia, or do you have good weather data sources for many countries around the world?
@autiomaa i use open meteo, and it picks best weather models based on locations. In the future, I'm planning to add multi-model confidence thing because the models sometimes disagree.

@antongorlin List of what data sources Finnish weather data company uses in their services across the world: https://www.foreca.com/data-sources

"In total, Foreca gathers and fuses 50+ different data sources world-wide."

Data Sources

@antongorlin They also have an API, so that is one option for future if there are issues with Open Meteo.

Foreca Weather API

Foreca Weather API includes accurate weather forecasts and observations. API provides global high-quality weather data, including point forecasts and maps.

@autiomaa thanks, I just had a look. They don't have the separation of high/mid/low clouds, which is important and are pricier. But I'll surely keep them in mind.
