Let's see how many pounds Beloved and I can pick in 2.5 hours.
Plenty of ripe berries on the group of bushes that are largest. The farmers are having to replace about a hundred of their stock due to weather and complications therefrom. Tough being a small farm.
But today we had to pick fast before the heat index reached 100F. Goal: Fill two buckets.
We filled two buckets as the temperature got extreme.
I was really getting frustrated with the clerk at checkout when I found that the actual checkout was farther on.
We ended the morning by eating homemade blueberry ice cream in the shade. Then it was back home.
Turns out that we only picked 18 pounds (8.2Kg). It looks like a lot when it's spread out. In previous years, when there were more bushes, we have picked 20 to 24 pounds.
Once dry, the blueberries are bagged and frozen.

There was a Peanuts cartoon decades ago where Charlie Brown said "Happiness is a drawer full of warm socks." I think there is something similar with having a big supply of blueberries.
