One of the more confounding US vs British English divergences: "pudding".

US: sweet custardy dessert

UK: meat???? but also sometimes popovers?! ALSO also sometimes sweet custardy dessert?

Really rolling the dice there, Brits. "would you like some pudding" well not without at least one and preferably several qualifiers provided first!
