AUKUS exposed once more as very expensive political theatre.

Our government could choose to fund NDIS with those billions. Include dental in Medicare. Build affordable housing. Fund education. Advance renewables. Lift people out of poverty.

Instead the unlamented #scott 🤡 signed us up for this toxic brain fart in the interest of his own short term political gain (this was his MO - remember Robodebt?). And Labor fell for it.

We have been played.

Wong and Marles were left waiting in the wings in London – it’s further proof Aukus was never anything more than a political stunt

All the flimflam and palaver amount to nothing in the face of domestic realities. Perhaps the UK’s John Healey has done us all a good turn

The Guardian
@26pglt Keating: acquiring a small fleet of nuclear-powered submarines was like "throwing a handful of toothpicks at a mountain"

@26pglt Sure. But a few hundred billions are not disappearing.

Someone profits from it.

Who might that be?

And.. where is Scotty now?

Surely nobody spends so much money just for "political theatre".

Rule no.1 I would suggest, for every journalist:

You haven't properly reported as long as you did not shone a light on the billion dollar benefits a particular story gives to someone.
