โช When Notre-Dame ๐๐ฎ๐ซ๐ง๐๐ in Paris 2019, the world stopped and watched. Today, Russia ๐๐ฎ๐ซ๐ง๐๐ Kyiv Pechersk Lavra Cathedral, a monastery nearly 1,000 years old and older than Notre-Dame itself. A thousand years of history deserves the same attention, the same sympathy, and the same protection. ๐ ๐บ๐ฆ Ukraine's Kyiv Pechersk Lavra was founded in 1051. The Dormition Cathedral was built between 1073 and 1078, predating Notre-Dame by more than a century.bNotre-Dame was constructed between 1163 and 1345. Yet one became global headline news, while the other will barely register beyond a few articles and social media posts. When did launching missiles at major Christian cathedrals become normalized? ๐ฏ Russia is not just attacking Ukrainian cities or even civilians. It is attacking Ukrainian history, culture, identity, and religious heritage. Anyone claiming this war is only about territory is ignoring what is being destroyed along the way. And having failed to conquer Ukraine for 4,5 years straight, russia is now running out of options. That is why it increasingly resorts to b0mbing churches and other acts of terr0r. History has seen this before: as military options narrowed, H1tler increasingly turned to terr0r b0mbing campaigns against civilian targets as well, in an attempt to break British public morale when victory was slipping away. Destroying cathedrals, homes, and civilian infrastructure is not a sign of strength. It is what terr0rist states do when they are running out of options. | 67 comments on LinkedIn
