Absolutely incredible performance from Cape Verde, who found a way to stay compact and play together. Shots were blocked, challenges were both intelligent & selective, and they didn’t panic under immense pressure.

Spain weren’t necessarily bad, but were sleepy early. Perhaps there was a bit of arrogance, overlooking their opponent. A good wake up call. After all, the last WC winners lost their opener.

The Spanish papers will know this and surely not overreact…
