On most Mondays at 1PM EDT (UTC-4 or two hours and change from now), I live toot an episode of a TV show. Of this episode, TMDB says:
The crew bring aboard an alien tracker to remove some creatures that came aboard hidden in some cargo.
Lately, John and Aeryn's "will they / won't they" has become a bit more like a "probably will / maybe did." Ka D'Argo and Chiana are firmly in the honeymoon of their relationship. Zhaan has been working on reclaiming her priesthood. Moya's son, Talyn, is still having off screen adventures with the formerly villainous and still pretty amoral Crais. And Scorpius still wants the wormhole knowledge in John's brain.
#Farscape #ScienceFictionJohn is playing chess with John while processing Scorpius shit. Aeryn is concerned he has transit madness.
Zhaan and Rygel introduce the episode problem. Apparently, Moya might have parasites.
Chiana and D’Argo got a critter to go after the parasites. It goes to work.
Meanwhile, John plays golf.
John, who hasn’t heard about the parasite, takes a shot at a gnarly looking critter that left behind crumbs.
After the theme song, most of the group catch up.
An unseen figure watches Zhaan while she cleans up a mess in the mess.
She’s confronted by an unseen figure.
Chiana brings the parasite hunter. Aeryn catches it when it escapes and says it must want its keep.
John and Pilot chat until John hallucinates Scorpius. John accidentally pulls a pistol on Rygel. They bicker.
Meanwhile, D’Argo and Chiana bicker about Chiana following the Vorc (parasite hunter).
The Vokrc isn’t housetrained and does its business in Aeryn’s rack … before humping Aeryn’s leg.
Chiana is attacked by John’s mystery creature and D’Argo failed to stop it too.
D’Argo needs medical care. He’s getting it from Zhaan. Chiana feels like that’s not going well but can’t take I up with Zhaan’s boss.
John has ideas about using the Vorc to hunt the parasite but he’s startled by the Vorc and tells Aeryn to do it instead.
Zhaan found a poison in D’Argo and must try to find a cure for it. She notifies John that they must capture the parasite alive to get the information she needs to heal D’Argo.
John’s progress is hampered by hallucinations of Scorpius.
The team have a lead on the parasite and mobilize to catch it.
It goes after Chiana who fires at it but misses a lot.
Pilot shuts it in on tier two, Hammond side. The team catch up but struggle to find it.
John has more hallucinations before finding the missing Vorq.
The creature hops out of the Vorq’s mouth and John and the others gas it.
The Vorc is the parasite. Maybe. The Vorc doesn’t have the poison they’re looking for. They have quite a mystery on their hands.
John realizes they must have another creature on their hands. They inject the Vorc with translator microbes. It can now understand them even if they can’t understand him. He objects to Aeryn wanting to kill him.
Pilot is able to translate the Vorc’s simplistic pseudo language. The Vorc says it wants to kill the bad.
John tells the Vorc he’ll shoot the Vorc if it fucks yup again.
Rygel complains. John tells him to hide in his room.
The Vorc shifts shape again and chases the parasite.
Rygel hears the parasite approaching him. He’s upset about John’s promise he’d be safe.
John and Aeryn catch up and try to persuade Rygel to calm down. Rygel appears to bite the Vorc which then runs off. Rygel is tossed aside.
Rygel’s now the second resident of the medical bay. He’s been poisoned too. They’re now sure the Vorc poisoned him.
John goes to hunt the Vorc after having last words from D’Argo.
John and Aeryn have a conversation about the trap they’re walking into before shooting yup the Vorc.
Meanwhile, big looking things escape from Rygel’s body.
John and Aeryn find out the cocoon the Vorc led them to has the real Rygel.
The Rygel in the med bay is the parasite.
It attacks Zhaan. John and Aeryn find arrive in time to save Zhaan but thousands of baby parasites show up.
John and Aeryn use guns and a smoke grenade to take care of the parasites.
Rygel chastises the others for failing to recognize the imposter.
Aeryn and John try to make the Vorc comfortable while it dies.
Claudia gives a stunning performance of grief and regret.
Later, Aeryn confronts John about a shot he took at Scorpius while he continues to play chess with himself.
He confesses about the image he’s been seeing Scorpius.
She asks why he didn’t kill Scorpius.
He said he tried but something stopped him.
She asks if he needs help.
He says if he does, he’ll ask … just like she does. Which isn’t really encouraging.
Scorpius says when the trap comes it’ll be too late.
John gets checkmate.
Scorpius says that wasn’t the trap he meant.
This episode is kind of uneven. As long as you don't remember what's actually going on, you can get distracted particularly with the danger posed to D'Argo.
If you've seen it before and you remember what's going on, the episode is pretty tedious. The Vorc's pink form is really annoying. Its hunting form, when following horror rules (don't show it clearly) is comparatively pretty good. To make it move the way they wanted it to, it seemed to need CGI which made it look pretty bad.
I think there's a worthwhile story here but it didn't hold up on screen.
As a way to introduce the fact that John is now sharing his head with a Scorpius entity, it's actually pretty understated. Perhaps that was because they weren't ready to commit to what they ended up doing eventually. Whatever the reason, I think that part of it works pretty well.
