I was always afraid to go to the dentist. It took me years to get rid of that fear. But it was so, so worth it. Nowadays I still don't like to open my mouth for weird tools to do weird stuff, but getting problems solved early is totally worth it. #JustSayin
"Sir, your teeth are in perfect shape, just a bit of gum inflammation that we will solve with this weird tasting blue stuff and a bit of ultrasonic cleaning. Thank you for coming here before this became a bigger problem." At zero cost, because I live in a country with health insurance that actually works, as it does almost everywhere, except for that one country that prefers blood fights to celebrate a birthday ;)
@jwildeboer cries in dutch about the €150 dentist bill i don't have the money to pay
@jwildeboer but glad to hear! dentists are scary, but it's so much worth it to nip things in the bud

@jwildeboer To me, TK only pays 40 eur per year. I do have additional dental insurance. And, of course, TK is paid out of my brutto salary.

ETA: Do not take me wrong, there must be universal coverage. I just wish it covered everything.

@rhelune €40 of what? My appointment today was fully covered (I’m DAK). In two weeks I’ll have the professional cleaning (PZR Professionelle Zahnreinigung) that is also fully covered, once per year. I prefer to get it every 6 months, so I pay the second one myself at €60.
@jwildeboer TK reimburses me 40 eur per year for teeth cleaning. It costs over 100 eur.
@jwildeboer
Well this is a really humiliating comparson for us ‘mericans! But if the shoe lifts fit…
@jCarttarBrooke The weird thing is that many people here in Germany are somehow convinced that basic care by dentists is somehow not really covered by health insurance and thus avoid going for a check, only going when it’s too late for simple solutions, thus having to pay for extra stuff. I just go when something feels wrong. They do their stuff, insurance pays everything.
@jwildeboer Germany is sadly making steps back towards the wrong direction

@SebasFC @jwildeboer Dental care is not covered where I am in Europe, or the UK.

A lot of bad teeth going around.

@jwildeboer "health insurance that actually works" is maybe a bit too optimistic but at least we don't have to cook meth if we get diagnosed with cancer 😄️
