The review for Virtual On Cyber Troopers on Sega Saturn from CVG 182 - January 1997 (UK)

A bit hard to get into at first, but a well deserved perfect score.

@outofprintarchive I freaking LOVE the arcade version of this game! I used to play it all the time at a local arcade in the late 90s. Sometimes I get in my head to just get a Saturn off ebay to play this version, but the cost of an ODE + time (likely) doing repairs disuades me.

@scribblemacher

It's so worth it though.
If you get an ODE, repairs would be minimal, as the drive is the part that is most likely to break.
Unless you get a system that someone tried to region mod and completely screwed it up, ending up with a Saturn that doesn't even have a region, so won't boot any games. 😅
That's what happened to me 20 years ago, when I got a spare Japanese system and my import shop gave me a broken one alongside it for free, if I ever wanted to use it for parts.

Fixed the soldering mess and restored it to be a regular Japanese system. Still works like a charm. 😄

I'm surprised at how affordable a lot of games still are actually.
Not super cheap, but not the crazy prices that I've seen in the past.
No idea about the US market though, as that might be nuts.

But Pal and especially Japan software is really doable and sometimes plain cheap.
There are of course games that go for a lot sadly, but still.
