Jazz Not Jazz 5: Seasons
Another set of jazz from 1950s to the 1980s, all on vinyl. Set begins with a little word jazz, courtesy of Ken Nordine, then some notable names in jazz. A couple of the less familiar names of note; both from the Pacific Northwest. Patti Bown was a pianist discovered by Quincy Jones and played with him and Oliver Nelson, among others. This is from her sole album as a leader from 1959. Transport started out as a disco outfit in Portland, OR, but due to the backlash in 1979, transitioned to jazz fusion. An album was recorded by Marv & Rindy Ross (aka Quarterflash) in their home studio, but was not released until 2022. The subtitle comes from the title track of a 1970 Pete Jolly album that since become a cult favorite.
