Almost 20 years ago I purchased my first camera. This photo was about a year in, from a trip that I took with some friends to some indoor and outdoor skate parks in Melbourne where we went rollerblading and skateboarding.

I can't say I really knew what I was doing with the camera settings at the time, but I managed a few neat shots and this was one that I was particularly proud of at the time.

If my memory serves me correctly, I think this skate park was somewhere in Sunshine.

Sick photo! Remember getting my first camera around this time too and not knowing what I was doing either!
Thank you @RyanBFramed! You certainly seem to know what you're doing now, that's for sure! You nail the composition, colours, and tones in every shot you post, and I've also been really enjoying your pixel stretch series this week.

I found not knowing how to operate the camera such a double-edged sword - there was a massive lack of control, but there was also experimentation and freedom to learn and play, discover what both I and the camera was capable of, and develop a sense of style.

I think I was also a lot happier to accept a shot that wasn't well framed or was a bit out of focus. I like the opportunity for reflection that revisiting old shots brings up, as well as to see how things have developed (heh).

Thanks for the comment :)
