🦘🇫🇷 Quelle application de lecture différée choisir en 2026 ?

Le paysage des applications de lecture différée a beaucoup changé. Pocket a fermé, Omnivore aussi. Voici mon tour d’horizon (presque objectif), en 2026.

🦘🇬🇧 Which read-it-later app should you choose in 2026?

The read-it-later landscape has changed a lot. Pocket has shut down. So has Omnivore. Here is my (almost) honest tour of what’s left in 2026.

@wallabagit I‘m about to migrate to @wallabag , but while the infrastructure is solid, the apps on iOS (Wallabag itself and @frigoligo) are a bit buggy and not really pretty (imho, of course). I love the optics of @couchapp, which used to be a Pocket frontend and now has its own storage in iCloud.

@axeln yeah, I understand your opinion...
one of our main advantages is that you can use wallabag across many platforms, not only in apple ecosystem.

About our smartphone apps, i know we have a lot of work to do on them to improve them.

@couchapp

@wallabagit Thanks for all your work. Because you are platform agnostic, I am moving to your service, that’s a big plus and in today’s world a must have #DIday
Aesthetics come second, but I still keep my fingers crossed. I already mentioned it before, but maybe @couchapp is interested in adding you as a backend?

@axeln Out of curiosity did you try the App Store or the TestFlight version? The latter is a full rewrite of the UI layer in native code. https://testflight.apple.com/join/nYnbySd8

@wallabagit @couchapp

Join the Frigoligo beta

Available on iOS

@frigoligo @wallabagit @couchapp Thanks, I’ll try the TestFlight! The issue I had was not optics, but one article that got seemingly stuck in the download; when I added further articles via the share widget, they got acknowledged (ie checkmark ✅), but did not show up in the app nor the backend.

@frigoligo Out of curiosity: what does the Settings->Advanced->Internet Check URL do?

And BTW: it IS pretty 😍

@axeln Pair a self-hostable service with an offline first mobile app and now you have more reasons they can't reach each other than have saved articles in your wallabag account.

This URL is part of a new feature that try to diagnose connection errors and inform users proactively.
One of the tests is internet connectivity check, the simplest and more private solution I found is to resolve a DNS request. Some user are really focused on privacy and/or security so the target is configurable.
