Why would anyone take out more debt to cover debt they already can't pay? This is such a dumb idea. I hope nobody falls for it, but I bet they will.

I dunno if this is still true, but when I sold mortgages in 1995, banks didn't care about medical debt. It was irrelevant to the decision whether you got a loan or not. Everyone has medical debt; the only way to navigate it is to simply let it be charged off to a collection agency and then ignore that agency. Your doctors at least get some money. You might have to change your contact information when the collection agency finds you, but that's far cheaper than paying an absurd bill..
