The Blue Hydrangea
LibreELEC appears to be working just fine on the Raspberry Pi 5! I connected it to my NFS share and it started playing back perfectly. Now I can ditch the Google TV and go with a truly open solution!

@thebluehydrangea Seems like you could also just install a standard RaspiOS and have it start Kodi on boot.

That would have been a good option as well! I found that building RetroArch under Raspberry Pi OS and running it directly wound up working a lot better than some of the emulation-specific distros for example. I had some weird problems the last time I installed it though, which led me to give LibreELEC a try as an alternative. I'd say either way would have worked, but I'm glad it's working regardless 🙂
