What, the fuck, are Japanese people doing with their tongues for "emotional bonding" where a robotic tongue would be an acceptable substitute?

Like, i 100% see how the adult toy industry could benefit from this, but the idea of a robot licking me for "emotional bonding" is a full-on "hell no".

@masukomi Maybe they mean "kiss"? A lost in translation thing.

@StarkRG sure, I considered that however I am pretty sure that most people would perceive french-kissing a robot tongue as a negative.

I’m sure are some people who fantasize about French kissing robots, but I feel reasonably confident in suggesting that they’re severe minority.

@masukomi Well, sure, but it's supposedly for therapy, not fantasy.

@StarkRG you don’t think it’s much more plausible than this is just an excuse to be allowed to keep working on their sex toy?

Because I honestly can’t think of a therapeutic use for a robotic tongue other than producing orgasms

@masukomi More plausible? No. Approximately as plausible, though. While I could understand it being useful in the creation of human-like speech, but the article specifically mentions that it *feels* the same as a tongue rather than merely functioning as one. But, ok, for the sake of playing devil's advocate, maybe it could be used as a prosthetic for people who've lost their tongue to disease or mishap?
