Day 1 of #CSSDay is over, I'm going to bed as all my spoons have been given away, but it's all good: I'm feeling full of heart and social battery.

Before going on stage I was boggling at the genius of @rebane2001's emulation of an x86 CPU in CSS (yup!), struggling to keep still, wishing my rational head would calm my heart.

I'm very thankful that I didn't embarrass myself, that I had a good time on stage, and that the nervous energy translated well into enthusiasm :)

My people. Thank you 💜

I feel like my body reacts before my emotions do - it turns on the jitters and I struggle to contain myself.

And then, when I finally get the release of being on stage, the heart rate may still be high but it all feels much better.

@sarajw Your talk was wonderful! I’m so glad I got to see two of your talks in one week 🥳

I love how you remind us that many of our assumptions about users are wrong, like that it’s easy to think that screen reader users don’t care about light and dark mode. 🙏

I have a feeling that you will have to come back and hold another version of that talk later if we get more color-scheme things 🤩

@johannes ha I'll just do this one talk over and over forever 😆

Also thank you 🙏💜

@sarajw happy to hear and read responses from other that say it went well! Nicely done. Sweet dreams :)
@sarajw congrats! I’m sure you did wonderfully!
@sarajw @rebane2001 Well done! I need to start getting to some conferences again at some point. Seems I’ve missed some good ones lately.

@ross I think there are always going to be good ones still coming, depending what specifically you're into!

@estelle was telling us yesterday that talk quality now in general has hugely increased compared to 15-20 years ago. So you know they're all killer, no filler 😆

@sarajw @estelle Wow. That’s great!

I’m more of a back-end, data and APIs engineer. But front-end folks seem much more like my people. I love the creativity and care that y’all have.

I’ve also found it hard to find time. Not the kind of thing my employer needs me doing, and leave is used up on dad-ops.

@ross @estelle dad ops and mum ops indeed!

Yeah, there are also more general confs like Beyond Tellerrand, which might suit you too...

The infosec community seems like a cozy one too, if that interests you?
