People often hold back from creating, asking "If I did X, would it be good?" Like, "If I did a comic about aliens who invade Earth to make and sell salsa, would that be good?"

Art is about how something feels. We don't "think" as we're enjoying art. The only way to know if a creative idea is good is to make it and see how it feels. The best ideas can end up not working, and a tiny weak idea can become something amazing.

How can you know if something is good or bad if it doesn't exist?

@admiralwonderboat THIS. I may think "Yeah this is good art", but the truly AMAZING art I just feel and KNOW it is good. Music especially.

What kind of salsa?

@kevinrns exactly! It's the little details the make the most impact
@admiralwonderboat Dammit, now I'm spinning my wheels on a sub-plot about how they came up with it. Or a backstory, whichever.

The Kabron 3 Peace Agreement did not contain any Salsa as implied in the verbal agreements of 3167. You have seven orbits to rectify this betrayal.

@kevinrns Or they invaded to take over, but got distracted by this thing we humans call salsa, and now their time is split between the salsa business and stalling their superiors in the invasion fleet.

YOUR EXPECTED SALSA EXCUSES HAVE AWAKENED THE QUEEN!

@admiralwonderboat My composition teacher in undergrad told me the best advice I've ever heard, paraphrased:

Just make music, 99% of it will be shit, but you have to make it to get to the 1%
