switching my terminal from fish to zsh shell, what do I need to know?
@pirijan I’m not a big terminal guy but I just switched the other direction. :)
@bentsai oo why's that? I still prefer fish's ux, but every so often I hit compatibility or config hurdles with scripts that assume they're in a more bash-ish environment
@pirijan @bentsai lol I was thinking of switching from zsh to fish because setting up shell with all the preferences on new VMs seemed like a chore and I love the fish defaults. But I paused adopting it in the first place because I figured posix compliance would bite at some point. If you have already decided maybe try skipping oh-my-zsh and try hand rolling your config like this? https://batsov.com/articles/2025/03/01/back-to-the-basics-zsh-without-oh-my-zsh/
