A Foster, female Irish politician, on Newsnight referring to "Twitter" as current platform. One more instance that these people (politicians & journalists) are completely out of touch with reality! #getuptodate

Also heard Tim Miller of the Bulwark Podcast (and a much younger person than Arlene) refer to Twitter. Twitter became X in 23. #smdh

Whether you like it or not the internet and its platforms are shaping our world. To willfully refer to something that no longer exists, and in fact has been replaced by something that acts to deseminate right wing views of a billionaire actively destabilising politics in your own country is to my mind is the height of carelessness. Be accurate!

I usually avoid deadnaming, but I make an exception for twitter
@OneInterestingFact In one case it would be rude and negligent of a fellow human's feelings, in the other it's inaccurate. Twitter no longer exists.

I donโ€™t suppose lemon cares that Iโ€™m resisting in my own little fashion but thatโ€™s what refusing to call his toy by its new name is in my mind.
