Ranjankudi Fort: The 18th-Century Battlefield Where the French Surrendered

A 15th-century fortress later occupied by the Nawab of Carnatic, Ranjankudi Fort was the site of the 1751 Battle of Valikondah between British and French forces. In 1752, French commander D'Auteuil surrendered here after being denied entry by the local Jagirdar.
