I think I perfected https://nevermind.jointhefediverse.net as a good "get started with the fediverse" site with a few added links.

Here's the fediverse!

Never mind the bollocks

@stefan I know you didn’t ask for feedback, but here is mine anyway. The first screen after your two welcome screens says that fediverse is comparable to email, so there, I think, you already lost people who came looking for an alternative to twitter or bluesky. ”No I didn’t want a new email thingy, I must have misunderstood what mastodon was when someone tried explaining it” * closing window *
@stefan In my opinion, non-tech people want to know how they can use it, not how it works.
@stefan So, in my opinion, go with something like: open an account, download an app, use it like Twitter, but like it was when the platforms were new, no ads, no algorithms putting things on your timeline, so instead you put in some time to find accounts _you_ want to follow.

@marialovfors Thanks, I always appreciate feedback!

And you're right, I think sending someone to https://jointhefediverse.net who has no idea what they're looking it will be quite overwhelming.

I actually have a variety of explainers and get-started articles for different audiences, including a customizable invitation page that might look like this, which I think gets closer to what you have in mind.
