Police often fundamentally misunderstand disabled people's intentions, needs, and what we're trying to communicate.

Normal behaviour gets interpreted as deceitful, non-compliant, or aggressive, even when we're not in anytime of crisis and doing our best to be cooperative

@structuredsucc A public defender I know had a case because the cops charged someone with severe Crohn’s impacting neural stuff with intoxication. The fact this person only got falsely accused and had to stand trial despite a negative drug test, instead of like, killed, is the “good” outcome. #ACAB

I entirely believe this. I've heard stories from clients that are just as bad, all simply for existing with a disability or on a medication
