HarriettMB@JackTheCat Well, they ran a trial version of this technology in Strangford Lough a few years ago. The destruction of species was such that the tidal turbine was removed well before the end date, and everything promotional and positive about it went very, very quiet.

Fish don’t like turbines any more than you’d like being in a washing machine.
And the seabed is (or should be) full of life, and is a bad place to put a turbine.
Need something that goes with the laminar flow of the tide.
Token Sane Person@BashStKid @HarriettMB @JackTheCat Tidal energy is also really diffuse. I suspect that this is one of those ideas that sounds good until you start doing the arithmetic.
@tokensane @HarriettMB @JackTheCat Still a problem that needs solving, 15% of the world lives on a coast, they need energy, and they need a healthy sea.
Probably one or two percent of the the money pissed away annually on AI would solve it …
