Ok, now I *have* to share this section, because this is the *really* janky shit that I absolutely loved playing. Star Wars Rebellion was a MOO-clone that was… not great, but you could build a Super Star Destroyer and the Death Star. Earth 2150 was an RTS that allowed you to design your own units.
(I would play Earth 2150 against my friends and spam out the cheapest spider chassis with the cheapest long range missile launcher attached and absolutely dominate)
Uplink was, I think, a text based hacking game, but I could be remembering wrong.
I guess the ultimate point of this unexpected trip down memory lane is, fuck the rent seeking economy. You should be able to own your shit, and then you should be able to pass it on to your children.
