Pre-ordered my first game in years! #controlresonant is a title that has been on my radar for a while. I LOVED Control to the point of near obsession and haven't had that kind of connection with a game since. Was almost giving up hope of a physical edition of the sequel (as #remedyentertainment initallly skipped a physical copy of #AlanWake2 and were silent on physical for this title) but then news broke along side a release date! I am a gamer who still prefers physical releases, so my day wss made! Can't wait!

@hush404 This thing looks pretty cool. What platform are you playing it on? I'd love to hear what you think once it comes through.

I have a problem with buying and not playing games, but maybe physical copies would help me with that....

@booksthatgoboom Will do! PS5 for me. Have you played the first one?
Heh. Believe me... Just because its physical, doesn't exempt one from that path of buying and shelving. However, I have made a general rule to wait until games are in that $20-$30 range if I know I won't be playing immediately. That way I feel less guilty if I shelve something. There's so many games out there and so little time.

@hush404 Nope - I never even heard of the first one, but I saw something about this one a few months ago and it looked interesting. It's not exactly the sort of game I normally run to, but it's not NOT the sort of game I go for. Really intriguing.

Good call on the $20-$30 range. I usually wait til I have gift cards or there's a monster sale, but having it on PC/Steam makes it too easy. I have (metaphorical in my case) stacks of games I haven't played. But it's that way with books, too. When the apocalypse comes, I'm going in offline mode and catching up on my to-play and to-read pile until the zombies find me.

@booksthatgoboom What kind of titles usually grab your attention? The first (Control) has a similar vibe. In the first you're a woman who enters a strange (off the record) government building looking for her brother (he's the main character in the sequel). Battling all kinds of weirdness in a third person shooter mixed with abilities (magic like, involving physics mostly) to unravel the mystery. I got a hard nostalgic X-Files vibe from it. Some mention twin peaks (not something ive consumed) vibes as well. Very atmospheric. Very much its own thing and flavour. Worth a play if it peaks your interest. Likely on sale dirt cheap these days.
Ha. Yeah. Good ol Steam. I've got a backlog there too. It helped that my PC aged and I fell out of newer games on that platform and thus slowed my steam library... but Totally understand though.
My bookshelf too equally gives me that "you gonna pick something?" Glare as well 🤣
