I don't doubt it. There are clowns in every movement.

Though, from the beginning there were people fighting for the legal rights of the enslaved.

In many places, slavery was always expressly illegal, but those societies turned a blind eye to their own laws.

It's a matter of enough people pushing back on society as a whole. Getting to critical mass is a continuous process that requires blood sweat and tears for every inch.

The "moral arc of history" doesn't bend itself.
