More progress on "de-Googling" my friends and relatives!

While talking with my sister-in-law she said "there's so much AI everywhere" and was sad that folks around her are asking ChatGPT for answers to every single question.

When I suggested that she could try using a different search engine, one that doesn't include AI results, she asked me to send her the link! 😁

But it's using MS and they offer AI.

Qwant.

@raymaccarthy I've heard of them but I thought they had added AI?

If you have a no AI link for qwant please share!

@ahimsa_pdx
By default Qwant uses no AI, that's an option only with an account.

Can be added to Firefox as a Plugin. I don't use Chrome or Edge (spyware).

@raymaccarthy Thanks!

When I went to the link - https://www.qwant.com - the AI features were activated by default (see attached image)

However, I was able to deactivate them, so that's good!

But I'd rather have a link where AI features are turned off automatically (maybe the Firefox extension does that?) so I don't ever have to remember to check/reset that option.

I think AI features might get reset to default options if cookies are cleared - not sure where options are stored yet.

@ahimsa_pdx
I've seen no evidence of AI on my Qwant searches. My understanding was it was an option if you have a Qwant account & log in. I don't have an account.

On the OTOH the AI features are easily available on the noAI duckduckgo page and were bilge water when I tested with things I know. I used DDG for several years.
