I’m going to say this to my fellow liberals: it’s closures of popular properties like this with minimal public input that make people resent liberals and elect Trump-aligned candidates.

First of all, many conservatives have simply fled Minneapolis. They don't want to live under activism without representation. It both makes sense and is bad because now we don't have anything to balance the worst liberal tendencies.
I don't even consider myself a conservative, but I am finding myself increasingly frustrated with bad local management.

Second, it just fuels the fire that liberals are dumb. And this Park Board is not good.
If you watch the testimony, it's clear that the board would rather be liked by the activists than represent the interests of Minneapolis parks.

@fu These people - who listen intently and agree that they live on "stolen land" - are quick to give away land that is currently used by the public.
Here's my answer: if you agree that we all live on stolen land and want to give park land away, then sign over your house to the Dakota/Ojibwe and I'll eagerly listen to your ideas about "equity". Else, it's all hot air and you are sacrificing the public good for your own guilty feelings.
@fu If you think that transferring use of public parks will stop at the local level, then don't be surprised when more arguments are raised to seized more and more land.
If you listen to the meeting, the people researching the historical use of the park won't even confirm/deny that it was used by Native Americans for the purposes they say it needs to be transferred.
And you know what? That is wrong.
