Anthropic is again warning us that we need stricter guard rails around AI and are proposing a speed brake for the industry. I always hear the cynical saying it's a ploy to pump stock, I'm not so sure. I'm not aware of any corporation in history that's gone begging for regulation in order to pump stock. My only question is why is nobody listening. This is like the fox saying, dude the hen house really needs to be constructed better.
Not to pump stock, but asking for more regulation with the unsaid motivation that it will be a barrier to competition is in the capitalist playbook.
