Pablo Fernandez 🧉Contributing to open source is still a door opener to get a job. You have to pass the interviews, but recently I talked to a company that is desperate to find good engineers and contributing to the open source project that forms the core of their business puts you at the top.
The part that surprised me was that contributing meant one commit: that's it... one commit. So a viable strategy would be to find those projects, fix a bug, send a CV.
