finally getting around to listening to the new BoC album, and Prophecy At 1420MHz has major Evilbot vibes.
I keep expecting to hear "SILENCE. ORDER."
the first half of Hydrogen Helium Lithium Leviathan sounds like it came right out of the Uplink OST
(meta: fucking hell I can't type today)

the opening notes to Age Of Capricorn primed me to think I was about to listen to this legend of a mashup

ooooh yeaaaahhh Father And Son is my favourite kind of weird. eiouuuaeeeeBLRRGGHHGH
Somewhere Right Now In The Future has that sweet tape warble. am I watching a Summoning Salt documentary right now?
*summoning salt voice* "Tomorrow's Harvest stood as the album record throughout the rest of 2013, and 2014. and also through 2015, 2016, and 2017. in fact it stood for an incredible thirteen years."
the first half of Naraka, before the vocals, makes me feel like I'm playing an Oddworld game. HELLO. FOLLOW ME. WORK. YOYOYOYOYOOO
man those games ruled. the speedrun from GDQ a couple years back is one of my favourites at all time.
oh right I guess this has become An Thread. so uhhhhh, yeah. I was about to say "spoilers" but I don't think that's a thing lol
Acts Of Magic sounds like it belongs in a movie soundtrack. like I'm about to see the Sardaukar raid a building.
Memory Death made me feel sad.
skipped most of The Word Becomes Flesh. not in the mood for it. will revisit later.

ohhhhhhhhhhhh

OHHHHHHHHH

oh yes.

Into The Magic Land is beautiful. definite Rimworld OST vibes, a bit melancholy, great bass guitar tone. this is one of my favourites so far.

I know this is an album listen-through but I gotta go back and listen to that one again just to soak it all in.
the bass riff reminds me of Falling Dead Stars by Tacoma Radar. beautifully sad and contemplative song.

yeah this definitely scratches the same itch as listening to the Rimworld OST.

I'm sorely tempted to just hit repeat on it again, but if I do I'll never get through the album, so onward we go.

why does Blood In The Labyrinth make me think of Pink Floyd.
I think it's the bass tone and slow breathy vibes.
I don't think I'd skip this track if it came on, but I also don't think I'd go out of my way to listen to it. the instrument choice is kinda neat but it's a bit forgettable overall.

Deep Time is nice. big Jón Hallur vibes, like I'm back playing EVE in 2007.

I did slightly hope that it'd ramp into a big hard noise crescendo, but the way it went out actually reminded me (INTERSTELLAR SPOILERS) of the bit in Interstellar where he wakes up in the hospital, and I really like that bit of the soundtrack.

something about the mix in the first half of All Reason Departs doesn't work for me, but the second half is fun.

the drone part made me think of the intro music to MGS1 when you're sneaking around the dock trying to get to the elevator at the back.

Arena Americanada is like pure 80s synth porn.
The Process is like listening to some sort of propaganda LRAD in the middle of a riot, and then time slows down as your frontal lobes are turned to mush by a less-lethal munition.
@gsuberland the whole sequence of the first 5 tracks is awesome.
@gsuberland Completely off topic, but what’s with the Irish “the” in use over there?

@gsuberland “An thread” - “the thread”

An is Irish for “the”

@sid77 oh, no Irish involved, it's just a joke of intentionally using the wrong word for dramatic effect. same kind of vibe as saying "one of the threads of all time".
@gsuberland I'm quite proud that I'm able to 100% Abe's Exoddus. (Haven't yet managed Oddysee though...)
@lunarloony I got the unfortunate PSX release of that game where you couldn't complete it lmao
@lunarloony it's been like literally 20 years so I don't remember exactly what it was, but there was a softlock pretty early on. they did a recall but we had no idea and 'cos we were kids we just assumed skill issue.
