Fish can detect the noise and water disturbance caused by wading, especially in shallow water😑
While I try to keep wading to a minimum, some spots are simply impossible to reach without getting in the water🙃

@enog They can, but they don’t care very much about another animal in the water (imho). Problem is if you are classified as another animal, above the water! 🦅😱

Yes, the silhouette above the water gets most of the attention.
I was thinking more about the underwater “earthquakes” we create with every step, which can be pretty alarming to fish as well🙃

@enog The noise you create is probably more important in the environment where you fish - I mostly fish larger rivers and coastlines with waves, where there is more “natural noise” in the environment.
However, on one favorite spot - quiet bay -I used to wade in deep, turn around and fish the shallow part of the bay behind me. Never worked the other way round! My conclusion: fish isn’t too easily spooked by mammals in the water, as long as we’re not mistakenly classified as “bird”
