Hello train travelers who know about the trains in Spain:

I have a trip soon with a leg #Barcelona Sants - Paris. When I used long distance trains in southern Spain last year, it involved metal detectors and much longer check in than I'm used to. Anyone know if this is also true for this connection? How early should I get there?

This is the only country I've had this (well, not true, there is the Eurostar since Brexit) so I'm not sure if that was temporary or not.

@renordquist Hello, it’s still happening. It takes maybe an extra 5 mins. I’d recommend getting to the station about 10-15 mins before the train.
@moof Thanks! In that case I think I'll allow a little longer- in Sevilla at any rate it took a lot longer than 10 mins to get through security.
@renordquist I took this connection last November. It had extra security checks, which took me a bit by surprise. The checks weren't very thorough (no "take out your liquids and put them in a separate bag" kind of things, just a luggage scanner) and there were no queues, so for me it was no more than 5 minutes extra. But better to allow for a bit more time.
@RJurrius Thanks! I'll factor that in.
