A new art and zine shop opened in my small city a few weeks ago. Yesterday, I was finally able to visit and just fell in love. For the owners, this is simply a labor of love. They live in the apartment above the shop and have "regular" jobs so they are able to do whatever they want with the shop and have zero worries about its success.

In the front of the shop, they are going to have monthly art shows from local artists. In the back of the shop is where they will have shelves and shelves full of independent comics, books, and zines (and they already have a lot). I talked with one of the owners for what felt like forever. When I realized how long it had been, I apologized for taking so much of their time asking questions about zines and comics and they told me not to apologize because this is exactly why they opened the shop.

If you ever needed a reason to support local creatives and their shops, this is a spot on reason for doing just that.

@cmccullough sounds awesome! Are they on the fedi? Either way I'm guessing they'd be up for folks spreading the word about their little shop!?
@shom They're not on the fedi but I did talk with them about it yesterday. I'm hoping to see them here soon. 👍️
