Until she retired in May 2016, my wife was the Head of Learning and Development at Avon & Somerset Constabulary for 20 years.
She survived the butchery of the service by Cameron, Osborne, and May which tore the heart out of policing in the UK by losing experienced officers and mentors and with it the organisational memory.
Changes in T&Cs also made policing a less attractive career…you reap what you sow!!!
I was a researcher in regional policing. I retired in 2016 when it became overwhelmingly target focused.
